Biography
Optometrist Matthew Cathey graduated from The University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 2015 and received his doctorate from the UAB School of Optometry in 2022. Dr. Cathey completed external rotations at Leeds Family Eye Care in Leeds, Alabama and at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Dr. Cathey grew up in Paris, Tennessee, but upon moving to Knoxville fell in love with the eastern part of the state. He and his family enjoy the outdoors and are always looking forward to a weekend hike or camp-out in the Smokies.
Dr. Cathey practices primary eye care for adults and pediatric patients, comprehensive eye exams for glasses and contact lenses, pre- and post-operative care for cataract and refractive surgeries and ocular disease management including glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, injuries and infections.
